Cellar potential: Under good cellaring conditions, up to ten years Style: Warm and rich with a touch of spicy fruitcake on the nose complemented by a medium body of rich, complex fruit, subtle oak and a well balanced finish.
The grapes: Plantings of Merlot took place in 1996 at our Salvation Hills Vineyard.
Winemaking: After crushing the grapes were cold macerated prior to a reasonably warm fermentation after which the grapes were pressed off into insulated stainless tanks to allow the wine to go through a secondary malo lactic fermentation. Upon completion the wine was racked into barrel for maturation until blending and bottling.
